Today I visited Stell's class. It was so fun to see all her friends and watch them get mail from their Grandparents. She has such a sweet personality. I'm so proud of her.
So Rich and I were getting ready to lay down for bed and noticed one of these on each of our pillows. Hmmm....makes you think huh. I'm assuming that was Lucia's point:) You either remember to pray or get a headache.
We've been riding our bikes to Old Town for dinner a couple nights this week, but tonight we went to the Sugar Bowl for ice cream. It was sweet until a our waitress said we couldn't have cones in our bowls. However, once the sprinkles came, the smiles came back.
Since we are saying goodbye to Utah, I decided to take a day and spend it with Grandma Mavis and my girls. We went to lunch and then spent 3 hours in the canyon. Both Grandma and Jules took naps while I got some quick shots of Fall with the girls. It was a special day. As we drove out threw the Aspen trees "The Best Things in Life are Free" came on the radio. It was a great song more from my Grandmother's era for the moment. We drove slow and savored our time with Grandma. I'm so glad my girls have gotten to know her.
Waiting for the 1.5 Million Bats to leave the bridge at dusk.
We headed to Austin to celebrate Grandma Texas' 90th birthday. Lucia and Stella played with their cousins and we caught up with mine. It was a great trip.
Today we hung out at Liberty Park. It was British Field Day so all of these old British sport cars we on display. Rich was in heaven. The girls made some friends and so they got to sit behind the wheel of a red Austin Healey. Stella even pretended to race the guy next to her. I hope all this car experience doesn't set their expectations too high. I had rollerblades until I got married.
For the 4th this year we decided to combine and have Lucia's 7th bday party. We rented a huge water slide and had a bbq with our buddies. Lucia had red, white and blue cupcakes. Her friend Grace did face painting. The slide was really big, I was scared for a minute when I got to the top of the ladder. But it was really fun on the way down. Lucia played on the slide for hours. Then we went to a neighborhood firework show. Lucia plugged her ears to keep out the big bangs and Stella posed for several pics. It was such a great time with friends and family. One of my favorite days this year for sure.
Tonight at bedtime I went about the routine of getting the girls settled, read to and tucked in. I read to little Julia for the first time this week and she was so excited she put her hands in her mouth to contain her excitement. Then I went into Stella's room and laid by her as she explained that she preferred Dad because when he lays down with her he reads two whole stories to her. So while I was reading her two stories Lucia came in and wondered when I was coming in to read with her. I said as soon as I finished with Stella and Julia. By the time I came into Lucia's room she was daydreaming (or twilight dreaming) out the window. I started picking up her room and she said, "Mom what if there was a story about a mom who was like an Octopus?" I said that would make a pretty cool story you should write it down. And then she got excited to tell me that the story was of a mom who had so many arms she could do laundry and cook and dress her kids and read them stories all at the same time. She could get so much more done and have more time do all she wanted. "Wouldn't that be cool mom?" At that moment I realized two things: Lucia really understands me and wishes I had more time to hang with her. Talk about insightful and slightly sad. If only i really was a Mocotpus. Here's to trying!
I love this because they even play with Julia. They were playing house and Julia was the baby of course. They finally got use out of the baby crib and Julia loved it. Summer has been lots and lots of play dates. The girls are lovin it.
We returned to Watercolor on the Gulf in Northern Florida. It is our favorite vacation spot. I have a lot of pics for this trip because really they say it all, but it was wonderful. I think biking around was my favorite while listening to my i pod and pulling Jules in the trailer. I would look back and see her sweet smiling face. What a treat.
